In the first of Sven’s video series on The Stages of Development, he is looking at the key points of Site Finding:
1 – Slightly obvious but High Street estate agents, they have a large network, portfolio and importantly landlords and their portfolios.
2 – Commercial agents; who offer diverse opportunities including land, they offer deals with more meat on the bone!
3 – Property Websites; the usual suspects; Zoopla, Rightmove etc. set up alerts as well as independent agents and surveyors websites
4 – Property Auctions; we have had a mixed bag of experience of these, where unexpectedly prices have rocketed but you can of course buy pre/post auction
5 – The Property Press; Estates Gazette or Property News, not everything is offered through the portals, set up those alerts!
6 – Sourcing/ Site Finding Agents; these can be worth their weight in gold but are sometimes costly, find a recommendation
7 – Word of mouth; tell everyone what you’re looking for, your professional team, friends and family
8 – Social Media; cast search requirement net upon the masses
9 – Direct to Vendor letters; identify your sites from specialist software, we use Land Insight which we thoroughly recommend
